images of imprisonment

For eight years Colin ran a full-time art workshop for long-term prisoners in a maximum security prison. He researched this project (published in Art Therapy with Offenders ed by M Liebmann 1994) and exhibited his own work as Images of Imprisonment

"... it is about the experience of being in prison, expressed in the visual fragmentation resulting from the division and sub-division of physical spaces by numerous walls, fences, gates and bars. This visual fragmentation is also a metaphor for the psychological fragmentation evident in the broken lives contained within those divided spaces".  Exhibition text
